Hello Eric,

I hope all is well and that you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season!

I want to update you about the upcoming projects and a new repair project down by the San Diego River. Here is a status of where we're at on the projects we've been briefing the TCC on and this new repair project:

Mission Trails Project (Pipeline Tunnel and FRS II)

·         Property acquisition is still awaiting approval of the city council, which we hope to receive this month. The new anticipated construction start date is May 2008.

·         Once property acquisition has been approved, a contractor will be hired and the work areas for the north and south portals and FRS II will be cleared and grubbed by February 29.

·         The construction community commitment [Good Neighbor Agreement -efg] was finalized and approved between the Water Authority and TCC's CDC in December 2007. A pdf of the final document is attached to this email.

Mission Trails to Lake Murray Pipeline 3 Relining

·         Right-of-entry negotiations with the Mission Trails Golf Course are ongoing. Once negotiations are complete, we will advertise the project for construction bids.

NEW!

Pipeline 4 Repair (north of San Diego River)

·         Our operations staff has been alerted by monitoring equipment that a small section of Pipeline 4, just north of the San Diego River, needs to be repaired. They are tracking and continue to monitor the condition of the pipe. We will continue to use the pipe to deliver water to member agencies until it is shutdown to be repaired.

·         We are preparing contract documents for this work. The repair work will take approximately one month, with approximately 14 days of that being 24-hour work so we can resume water deliveries as soon as possible.

·         Since the repair work will occur in a remote area, it is unlikely there will be disturbance to any homes during the shutdown work.

·         Construction crews, equipment, and deliveries will enter the park at Calle de Vida. The high flows of the San Diego River make crossing it dangerous, if not impossible.

·         We have alerted park staff and are preparing a summary to brief the MTRP Citizens Advisory Committee at their meeting tonight about this work.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the information above or if you would like an update, in person, at the next TCC meeting.

Best, Craig
