Tierrasanta Community Council District Area 4 Portofino/Martinique Take Action Against Crime

Incidents of car thefts have increased in Area 4. Primary targets are Hondas which are found by police to be stripped of parts and abandoned. At a recent meeting of citizens and lead by Police officer Karrie Carlson and Elyse Olson from City Councilmember Madaffer's office residents agreed to form a citizens group to identify and put into action methods and technologies to abate area criminal activity.

  • Some suggested methods include:
    1. augmentation of the Neighborhood Watch by citizen patrols on random schedules
    2. working with homeowners associations to improve security patrols and to increase visibility by trimming or reduction in vegetation.
    3. police decoy or stakeout

  • Some suggested technologies include:
    1. installation of motion detector lighting both hardwired and solar
    2. increasing and /or improving the city street lighting by installation of high intensity sodium lighting
    3. random video monitoring throughout the area

Meetings will be announced on this website and through flyers distributed by volunteers.

If you would like to be involved or volunteer in this effort please come to the meeting at Villa Martinique clubhouse on Wednesday May 25, 2004 at 6:30 pm.
