CALL TO ORDER
The meeting of the Tierrasanta Recreation Council was
called to order at 7:02 p.m. It was established that there were enough members present for a quorum. The
meeting started with introductions.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The May 10, 2007 Minutes was accepted.
TREASURER’S REPORT
The ending balance
for May 2007 is $70, 286.82. The Treasurer’s Report was accepted.
COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC
COMMENT
Dana Brown requested the
following Action Item to be on the July Agenda:
“Approve in Concept the
CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT
Linda reported that “Sheperd’s Canyon” was mentioned in the “Reader”. She
commended all the people involved in the drainage repair at De Portola Comfort
Station. On June 20th, Linda will be reporting at the Kiwanis
meeting on behalf of the Recreation Council on its current state of affairs.

ITEMS
1. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and
Special Use Permit (SUP):
It
was moved/seconded (M. George / C. Weinsheim) to accept the January 2007 SOP as
a guideline for rewriting the Tierrasanta Recreation Council Bylaws. Motion
passes unanimously.
2. $40K Sprint Telecom Allocation—tabled until
July
3. Contractual Program Scholarships:
It
was moved/seconded (C. Weinsheim / T. Tibbetts) to approve two (2) scholarships
per family/year with a maximum of one (1) activity. The Center Director will
get approval from the Recreation Council sub-committee, assuming there are
funds available, per the Budget. This includes the same wording per the Pool’s
required information when a patron applies for a scholarship. The applicant’s
information, including name, will be held protected. Motion passes unanimously.
4. Kumeyaay
Batting Cage Plan Approval—tabled until July.
5. Gym window cleaning:
It
was moved/seconded (C. Weinsheim / B. Ogilvie) to approve the window cleaning
for the one-time fee of $525.00 and then place as an Action item at a future
meeting for discussion on the “Contract”. Motion passes unanimously.
6. Cordless Phone:
It was moved/seconded (C.
Weinsheim/ B. Olgilvie) to approve the purchase of a cordless phone up to
$150.00. Motion passes unanimously.
Area Manager
Manny reported the following: 1. Comfort Station: Manny reported that the P & R Department
has agreed to operate the public facility, (Comfort Station) on School District
Property, (De Portola Middle School, Joint Use Fields) on a "per
permit" basis for now. If, this
policy is questioned (in the future) the department reserves the right to visit
this policy again. 2. 'Sprint Antenna Update': Park Planning Staff is looking into archives
to address an apparent oversight which if not corrected soon, will render the
"mono-pole's" lights inoperable, after the repeater antenna is installed.

Center Director
Mark reported that the vinyl
cover was installed on the gymnasium roll curtain. This will help prevent
further tearing of the curtain due to people hanging on it. The Movie in the
Park, “Barnyard” is coming up on Saturday, July 21st. Summer registration is
underway. There was not a committee meeting regarding the
Pool Manager
1. Tierrasanta Little League
Closing
Ceremonies and All-Star selections are June 15th. Practices for All-Stars can begin June 16th.
There
are three (3) teams participating in TOC (Tournament of Champions).

4. Kiwanis Club
Kiwanis is getting ready for Oktoberfest. Hani requested that the purchase of risers/portable staging be on the Agenda for the July meeting.

There are 2 Sign-Ups in June. There are currently 230 boys and 30 girls registered.

Currently in All-Stars and gearing up for Fall Ball.

10. Mission
Trails
Photos for the Contest is up at the Visitor’s Center. The Reception is on June 24th.
A meeting was held and the Budget was discussed for the upcoming year.

With no further business, Chairperson Linda Juhasz
adjourned the meeting at 10:15 p.m. The next regular meeting of the
Tierrasanta Recreation Council will be held, Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 6:30
p.m—NEW START TIME.
