Time and Place of Meeting:
A meeting of the Tierrasanta Recreation Council was held March 13, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tierrasanta Recreation Center, 11220 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, San Diego, California, 92124.

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting of the Tierrasanta Recreation Council was called to order at 6:35 p.m. It was established that there were enough members present for a quorum. The meeting started with introductions.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved/seconded (C. Weinsheim / N. Ryan) to approve the February 13, 2008 Minutes with the following corrections: 1. Linda Juhasz should be listed as Corresponding Secretary, Mike George, Member-At-Large, Celeste Weinsheim, Member-At-Large, and John Brust, Chairperson. Action Item #7 should read the following, “It was moved/seconded (L. Juhasz/B. Ogilvie) to approve the Carryover Expenditure Plan Form. Motion passes unanimously.” 2. Under Adjournment: Next Meeting will be Thursday, March 13, 2008. 3. De Portola Middle School Report: Add “Cake Auction” (was held on 2/12). Motion passes 5-0-2.
TREASURER’S REPORT
The ending balance for February 29, 2008 is $62,368.44. The Treasurer’s Report was accepted.
COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC COMMENT
Celeste requested information from Manny regarding the current policy of dogs on campus per the March Minutes.
CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT
None.
ACTION ITEMS
1. De Portola Northern Container users and keys (TABLED UNTIL APRIL)
2. De Portola Comfort Station Permit/Rental Procedures/Deposits (TABLED UNTIL APRIL)
3. Problems at Joint-Use Fields with People and Dogs: It was moved/seconded (M.
George/C. Weinsheim) to have the Rec. Council contact Park and Rec. to revisit dogs allowed on School District Joint use Property, due to the concerns about abuse. Motion passes 10-0-1
4. Electrify Gymnasium basketball hoops: It was moved/seconded (M. George/C. Weinsheim)
to spend up to $4,000 on the electrical improvement with individual switches in the office. Motion passes unanimously.
STAFF REPORTS
Area Manager
Manny reported the following: 1. Mark and all Center Directors will be going to a training regarding recreation centers having cash registers in their facilities. Lee Campbell applied and received a grant in which he wants to place a wall-mounted bulletin board on the exterior of the building. This bulletin board can only be used by the TCERT. The Recreation Council already has earmarked a bulletin board of their own and everyone can use it.
Center Director
1. Spring Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 22nd. Thanks to those that helped bag candy. 2. State Tax Exempt documents and payment was mailed March 3rd. The process is now officially complete. Note: Federal was already completed. 3. Mark has an approved City ‘Work Request’ to get the Pool Building re-painted for those areas that pertain due to the mold, moisture, etc. Unfortunately there is no timeframe as of now when this will be completed. Mark does not think there will be a long-term fix regardless if those areas are painted because rain gutters, for example, is considered an ‘upgrade’. 4. Update on Lobby Murals: “RidOut” Plastics” will be able to do installation and a quote will be coming soon.

Currently in the Spring Select season having just finished All Stars. The girls’ teams did well in the tournaments.

Opening Day games was rained out but a some activities were held on the blacktop. Cargo container was placed at Farb Middle School and Laura has a contact to get the container painted free of charge.

There is some interest in placing synthetic turf on the High School Football Field.

Practices currently being held at the Rec. Center.

Kumeyaay Batting Cage and Plaque Status Report: Bid for the Kumeyaay plaque coming soon.

With no further business, Chairperson John Brust adjourned the meeting at 8:05 p.m. The next regular meeting of the Tierrasanta Recreation Council will be held, Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.
