Time and Place of Meeting: A meeting of the Tierrasanta Recreation Council was held November 8, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tierrasanta Recreation Center, 11220 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, San Diego, California, 92124.

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting of the Tierrasanta Recreation Council was called to order at 6:37 p.m. It was established that there  were enough members present for a quorum. The meeting started with introductions.

 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

It was moved/seconded (M. George / C. Weinsheim) to approve the October 11, 2007 Minutes.

Motion passes 8-0-1.

 

 

TREASURER’S REPORT

The ending balance for October 31, 2007 is $63,367.35. The Treasurer’s Report was accepted.

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC COMMENT

 

CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT

Linda reported that the Land Use Sub-committee had a meeting. An additional fire station was first listed on the survey and a Sports Complex/Senior Center was second. The Research Park also showed interest for grass fields. Susan Levy, Farb Middle School Principal, reported that there have been more dog droppings. Linda suggested to write articles and get this information publicized to the community. Linda noted that the “Reverse 911” has been enacted for cell phones. Linda provided information to the proposed new skatepark partnered with the YMCA. Lastly, the Rec. Council received notification that the IRS has received the Tax Exempt application and it is in process. 

 

ACTION ITEMS

1.                  Proposal for Parenting Classes:  It was moved/seconded (C. Weinsheim/H. Shatila) to approve Joe Oquinn and Heather Lampron for the contractual program “Redirecting Children’s Behavior”. Motion passes unanimously.

2.                  Installation costs for De Portola Comfort Station equipment :  It was moved/seconded (H. Shatila/C. Weinsheim) to reimburse Little League the equipment installation costs of $750.00. Motion passes 6-2-1.

3.                  Men’s Basketball NHO:  It was moved/seconded (N. Ryan/T. Tibbets) to approve Men’s Basketball to use 1 court during the funded Recreation Council time of 12-2pm. Motion passes unanimously.

4.                  2008 Board of Directors (TABLED)

5.                  Sprint Telecom Funds-How to spend the funds (TABLED)

6.                  Usage of funds from “Taste of Tierrasanta” (TABLED)

 

 

STAFF REPORTS

Center Director 

Mark reported that the gym lighting enhancement project has been completed. The Winter 2008 Program is now available. Tierrasanta Recreation Center will be closed November 12 for Veteran’s Day.

 

 

 

Pool Manager

Saunia Kammerer reported that some of the programs will be relocated to Allied Gardens and Kearny Mesa during the closures (11/19-12/16).

 

ORGANIZATION REPORTS

1.         Tierrasanta Little League

‘Fall Ball’ will be wrapping up in two weeks and Spring Registration will begin in December.

2.         AYSO

            Absent.

3.         Tierrasanta Tennis Club

            Absent.

4.         Kiwanis Club

“Voices for Children” will be on December 8th.

5.         DePortola Middle School

DPMS had activities/fundraisers in support of firefighters that lost their homes in the fires.

6.         Tierrasanta Pop Warner

 Proposed portable lights for practice areas.

7.         Tierra Canyon Girls Softball

            ‘Fall Ball’ is wrapping up and Spring Registration has begun.

8.         Tierrasanta Community Council

9.         Mission Trails

      Absent.

10.       Open Space Committee

In process to going out to bid since Treebeard Landscape’s contract is expiring. Open Space will soon be taking over the center islands on Antigua Blvd.

11        Serra Foundation

Norm Ryan reported that John Pisapia wanted to thank the AYSO parents who have complied with the school’s requests to not park next to the tennis courts at Serra High School.
