Prescribed Burns at MCAS Miramar

The MCAS Miramar Fire Department has asked us to inform local residents that during the months of May and June 2013, the Fire Department will be conducting a series of prescribed burns on base property.

These prescribed burns are designed to remove hazardous fuel growth along primary fire control lines and is part of the MCAS Miramar Fire Department's annual vegetation management program to reduce wildfire risk.

Smoke will typically be visible along SR-52, SR-163, Interstate 15 and from local communities. As always with prescribed burns, a Go/No Go for these burns will be weather dependent.

The first scheduled burn will occur on the following date:

Thursday, May 16 (9 am - 4 pm)

Miramar Fire Department Crews will be in the vicinity of the rifle range in East Miramar and smoke will be visible along SR-52, SR-163, Interstate 15 and from local communities. As always with prescribed burns, a Go/No Go for these burns will be weather and air quality dependent.

If you could please begin to notify other members of your communities not on this mailing list, the CP&L Office would be most appreciative. Thank you all for your understanding.
